what will school's look like then?

A jar partly filled with marbles shaken vigorously,
until the jar itself shatters, and the floor of society is covered
with shattered teachers and fast moving marbles, I mean, minds.

analyze this

Analysis of a poem by Robert Kendall.

Though logical thought is comforting in its usefulness, it is simply a method of thought within your mind, and the mind is capable of many more- some simple, some not. But the affinity our habits hold for the methods that have helped us prevail in the past keeps us close to the path, and ignorant of what may form into a new method, a new understanding. No rules or forms from any previous method can foster a new method's growth so much as the single concept:
Leap.

stoke the fire

Wordle I made of Sarah Palin's favorite words in the vice-presidential debate. Here's the behemoth resulting from the actual transcript.

wanted: high meteorological gradient as a function of geographic location

Fall is some of the best time for mountain biking, but the cold weather inevitably makes me wish it was already snowing. In two weeks I'll be heading up to the family cabin, we'll take the dock out, winterize a few things, and take the last pass of the year on the trails.

We're fortunate to be surrounded by a lot of land that doesn't even require raking. The only additional hazard to mountain biking through untended old growth forests is burying your front tire in a hole filled with soft needles. Once you get an eye for spotting them, the door is pretty much wide open.

Back near the cabin, the trail is a bit better tended, and it wraps around the trees all the way up to the driveway. Last summer we used a chainsaw to rip a 12' x 14" pine log, and raised it up a few feet as a log ride.

The Ruins: Movie Review

I wrote a review (number 15 on the list) for a movie called 'The Ruins', which is apparently an adaption of a novel. For some reason I feel less able to read after watching it.

wordle

Better late than never? Here's my wordle from the narrative.

I've decided to center my motif on mountain biking, specifically trail building. Wisconsin may not have a lot of elevation, but scattered around the Driftless region, and especially up North, you can find some pretty technical single track. The rolling hills and sculpted land of old growth forests provide not only the potential for an incredible challenge, but are almost ready to ride as they stand. With only leaves and light brush to be cleared, the terrain of northern wisconsin is extremely accessible to trail building, without disturbing old and new tree growth to keep the forest strong. Diverting the trail around developing life encourages an organic experience, and the windings to avoid cost in plant life, at first engaged in as responsibility, quickly morphs into an aesthetic that defines riding in the woods of wisconsin.
